The final results of Canada’s federal elections have been confirmed this morning by Elections Canada. The Liberal Party has secured 158 seats in the House of Commons, precisely meeting the threshold for a relative majority in a 338-seat parliament.
Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, will now navigate a fragmented Parliament where every vote carries decisive weight. With 34 seats, the NDP holds a pivotal position as kingmaker.
