The UNICEF office in the DRC has released an alarming report on the situation of the 412 children demobilized between January and March 2026 in the Beni area of North Kivu. These children, aged 9 to 17, require intensive psychosocial support before any reintegration into their families.
The transit centers are critically under-resourced. A funding appeal of $8.4 million has been launched but, to date, only 12% of the required amount has been secured, according to the UN agency.
